Eyelash Extension Aftercare

Eyelash Extension Aftercare is important for maintaining beautiful extensions for as long as possible. With proper care and bi-weekly fills, your lashes can last indefinitely.

Working with Water

After the lash extension session, do not get your lashes wet for the first 6 hours. If you can avoid wetting your lashes for 24 hours, it is even better.

Avoid spas, pools, and saunas for the first 24 hours. Too much water or steam can prevent the lash glue from curing properly.

Being Gentle with Lashes

When you have eyelash extensions, stop using eyelash curlers. You shouldn't feel the need to anyway, but it must be said. Using lash curlers will damage the extensions and cause them to fall out too soon.

Also, do not pull on or rub your lashes. Although the extensions are securely glued your natural lashes can still be pulled out prematurely, and rubbing can twist and tangle your new extensions, which can be very painful.

Try to avoid rubbing your eyes and touching your lashes. The oils from your hands can also separate the lash glue from your eyelashes. If you absolutely need to touch your extensions, wash your hands thoroughly first.

Wearing Makeup with Eyelash Extensions

Use only oil-free makeup remover for your face and recommended lash wash for eyes. Avoid any oil-based makeup around your eyes and never use makeup remover to take off any eye makeup. If your makeup does not come off with professional recommended lash wash, it is time to change brands.

Do not use oil-based or waterproof mascara if you want to wear mascara on your bottom lashes. We do not recommend wearing any mascara at all if you have lash extensions.

Cleaning the Lashes

Do not rub your lashes after taking a shower. Gently blot the moisture away with a towel and let them air dry. You can also use a fan that blows cool air or the "low" setting on your blowdryer, cool air only.

You should carefully wash lash extensions daily if possible. This will prevent dirt, bacteria, and oil from building up and damaging your lashes.

Avoid oil-based skincare products around the eyes. Just like oil-based makeup remover, the oils in eye creams or other skincare products can detach extensions from the eyelashes and cause premature shedding.

Conclusion

Eyelash extensions are not for everyone. There are many things to consider in eyelash extension aftercare. Luckily, most things are common knowledge but require a complete lifestyle change.

If you want to maintain your beautiful lashes, take proper care of them. And also consider touch-up appointments every 2 weeks to keep your lashes looking full and natural indefinitely!
